Job Description
Experienced Analog/ RF IC Design Engineer. Primary responsibilities include circuit design, physical pattern layout, evaluation board design, and evaluation of analog and RF integrated circuits (ICs).

Qualifications
Epoch Microelectronics is looking for experienced, independent engineers with actual chip design experience in the highly specialized field of analog/RF integrated circuits. Epoch Microelectronics is seeking candidates who are eager to work in a fast paced, highly cooperative team environment. Applicants must have high aspirations to grow with this expanding high tech company.

Qualifications include:

  • Minimum of 5 years of analog and/or RF IC design, including layout, evaluation board design, and measurement.
  • Educational Qualifications:
    • Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in analog and RF IC design, with significant experience in industry through internship or employment
    • M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering plus a minimum of 3 years of industry experience in analog and RF IC design, or
    • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering plus a minimum of 5 years of industry experience.
  • Experience with Cadence and other CAD tools including Virtuoso Schematic Editor, Analog Artist, Spectre/Hspice simulators, Virtuoso Layout/Layout XL Editors, Diva/Dracula/Assura/Calibre verification tools.
  • Experience in PCB board design.
  • Experience in measurement of analog and RF ICs.
  • Experience with other software packages such as Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel.
  • Candidate with complete IC chip experience including measurement is highly desirable.

Title: Design Engineer

Job Description
Design support for RF and mixed analog/digital integrated circuits, including layout, verification, evaluation and debugging of prototype ICs, and creating design report.

Main Job Functions:

  • Designs and verifies basic RF, analog, and simple digital circuits to a set of specifications.
  • Conduct custom IC layout with DRC, LVS, and other necessary verifications. It may be necessary to interact with outsourced layout engineers.
  • Reports to technical leader and senior design engineers. Initial design is often given by senior design engineers.
  • Design and layout of PCB for evaluation.
  • Measurements of ICs under the guidance of senior design engineers and/or technical leader.
  • Assists senior design engineers in creating design, layout, and measurement reports.
  • Attends design reviews to learn overall design process, circuit design techniques, layout floor planning and other layout related techniques, and to actively participate in such reviews.
  • Other duties may be applicable.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with strong academic achievement
  • 0 – 2 years of relevant industrial experience
  • Strong interest in analog and RF IC design
  • Familiarity with the following CAD tools is a plus:
    • Cadence Virtuoso Schematic Editor, Analog Artist
    • Cadence Spectre, SpectreRF
    • Cadence Virtuoso Layout Editor
    • Verification tools such as Mentor Graphics’ Calibre or Cadence’s Assura
    • Basic PCB layout tools
  • Good understanding of basic measurement techniques
  • Familiarity with basic tools such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. is a must
  • Unix/Linux knowledge is a plus
